Awards

Circle Kers are encouraged to participate in Club & Individual Awards in order to build club spirit and to celebrate the achievements of both the club and the individuals within the club. This year all awards are completely online. There is no need to worry about printing off and mailing forms. Simply click on the award name below! The awards are for a variety of work, showcasing the unique sacrifices of Alabama Circle Kers. Each Award is listed and explained below.

In order to ensure fairness, all non-lifetime awards are judged without identifying information. This means that the judges will not know which club’s submission they are evaluating. To apply simply following these two steps:

  1. Click on the description of the Award you want to submit
  2. Complete the Google Form

All Awards must be submitted by either February 8th or February 26th, 2021 at noon. Check below for due dates. Any questions should be directed to District Secretary/Treasurer Anna Lee Thornton.

Steve A. Means Outstanding Club President Award

The Alabama District will recognize individuals who have offered exemplary services as a Club President. All entries that reach a predetermined level of excellence will receive the designation of Outstanding Club President.

David C. Womack Outstanding Club VICE PRESIDENT Award

The Alabama District will recognize individuals who have offered exemplary services as a Club Officer. All entries that reach a predetermined level of excellence will receive the designation of Outstanding Club Officer. The categories include Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary/Treasurer, and Other Club Administration.

David C. Womack Outstanding Club Secretary-TreASURER Award

The Alabama District will recognize individuals who have offered exemplary services as a Club Officer. All entries that reach a predetermined level of excellence will receive the designation of Outstanding Club Officer. The categories include Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary/Treasurer, and Other Club Administration.

The Alabama District will recognize individuals who have offered exemplary services as a Club Officer. All entries that reach a predetermined level of excellence will receive the designation of Outstanding Club Officer. The categories include Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary/Treasurer, and Other Club Administration.

Paul Osborne Jr. General Member Award

The Paul Osbourne, Jr. General Member Award shall be presented to a member of the Alabama District who is deemed by the Board of Officers to have rendered outstanding service to Circle K in a general member capacity over the past year. The nominee must be a member in good standing with the Alabama District for the majority of the current administrative year. Each club may nominate one individual, and each member of the District Board of Officers may nominate one individual for consideration. Since this award is designed to honor members in a non-officer capacity, elected members of a Board of Officers at any level of Circle K are not eligible for this award.

Bob Palmer Memorial Award - Distinguished Nonmember

The Bob Palmer Memorial Award shall be presented to an individual who is deemed by the Board of Officers to have rendered outstanding service to Circle K in a non-member capacity. Since this award may be given on the basis of contributions that span several years, it is an award given for life and, therefore, it may be awarded to an individual only once. The nominee must be affiliated with Circle K in a non-member capacity for a minimum of one year.

Dr. James Sherry Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award

The Alabama District will recognize a Circle K Faculty Advisor at the District Convention to receive the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award. This award is given to a single individual who has shown exemplary service as a Club Advisor and recognizes the outstanding Faculty/Staff Advisors in the Alabama District of Circle K International. This award will be given to one Faculty/Staff Advisor that the District Board selects as outstanding.  If a club has more than one Faculty/Staff Advisor, they may enter separate submissions for each one.

Sam & Paula Brentnall Outstanding Kiwanis Advisor Award

The Alabama District will recognize a Circle K Kiwanis Advisor at the District Convention to receive the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award. This award is given to a single individual who has shown exemplary service and recognizes the outstanding Kiwanis Advisors in the Alabama District of Circle K International. If a club has more than one Kiwanis Advisor, they may enter separate submissions for each one.

Critt Snellgrove Outstanding Sponsoring Kiwanis Club Award

The Alabama District will recognize a sponsoring Kiwanis Club at the District Convention to receive the Outstanding Sponsoring Kiwanis Club Award. This award is given to a sponsoring Kiwanis Club who has shown exemplary service and support for their Circle K club.

Club Achievement

The Club Achievement award recognizes clubs which excel in all aspects of club operation. This includes all events that occurred between last year’s District Convention and the current District Convention and covers the full range of functions of a Circle K Club for their overall performance in the combined areas of club administration, membership and leadership development, Kiwanis Family involvement, service and fundraising as judged against a pre-established standard of excellence. Clubs compete in categories of Bronze, Silver and Gold determine by their club membership. First, Second and Third place trophies in all three divisions of membership will be awarded.

Bob Snellgrove Single Service Award

A club may enter its best single service project dedicated to service within the campus or community during the past service year (defined as District Convention to District Convention). Clubs compete in categories of Bronze, Silver and Gold determined by their club membership. First, Second and Third place trophies in all three divisions of membership will be awarded.

Kiwanis Family Relations Award

The Kiwanis Family Relations Award recognizes Circle K Clubs that excel in their attempts to strengthen their club’s relationships with members of the Kiwanis Family. Events that occurred between last year’s District Convention and the upcoming District Convention may be considered for this award.

Dana A. Lackey Club Communication Award

The Club Communication award recognizes clubs which excel in all aspects of club communications. This includes all communications that occurred between last year’s District Convention and the current District Convention and covers the full range of functions of a Circle K Club for their overall performance in the combined areas of press releases, social media, club website, club newsletter, and campus promotions as judged against a pre-established standard of excellence.

Distinguished Service

The Distinguished Service Award shall be presented to Circle K members for their outstanding service during the year. All members of the Alabama District of Circle K International are eligible for these awards. The hours of service for this award will be counted from April 1 to the start of District Convention. Either clubs or individual members may submit Distinguished Service Award recipients to the district, and a club is not limited in the number of submissions.

International Project Awards

The District & International Project Awards recognize clubs that have worked hard throughout the year to raise funds for RIF and the WASH Project. Awards will be presented for the following three categories: overall monetary amount raised, monetary amount raised per member, and overall hours spent helping. First place will be awarded in each category. RIF awards are determined from information submitted in the club monthly report forms. WASH awards are determined through submitting the award form.
